“Covers” an art exhibition by local artists Christina Pereyma and Carole Kerber, represents an art form that is new to Hayner. Kerber and Pereyma will create installations, meaning art “installed” on a temporary basis and of non-precious materials. Rather than look at it only, the viewers are encouraged to interact with it.

Christina  Pereyma has titled her work Yellow because the majority of the work is created from yellow fabric that came from the home of an elderly woman, who chose to surround herself in this “French Mustard” color.  The artist has taken the fabric and manipulated it to create an environment that exaggerated what she believes to be an irrational choice of so much yellow. Christina Pereyma has displayed her work throughout Ohio, including the Dayton Visual Arts Center, the Dayton Art Institute, and the Riffe Gallery in Columbus, and in Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.

I.D. Tags, Carole Kerber’s portion of the show, was inspired by her experiences as a mother and educator. Over the years, she has observed behaviors and reactions as the result of persons being “labeled” or labeling themselves. In her installation, Kerber will provide plain garments for visitors to try on, and hundreds of labels that can readily be attached and switched, to label themselves as well as others.  Kerber chaired the Smithsonian Institution’s “Save Outdoor Sculpture” program in Miami County,  and created the “We” Miami River Overlook steel sculpture in Troy, Ohio. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Midwest.
